07/32 – Time and Date

clock: a device used to measure and show time.

year: a unit of time that is equal to 12 months or 365 or sometimes 366 days.

time: the quantity that is measured in seconds, minutes, hours, etc. using a device like clock.

date: a particular day of a month or year.

day: a period of time that is made up of 24 hours.

hour: one of the 24 equal parts of a day, and each time period is made up of 60 minutes.

o’clock: according to the clock, used when the time is a specific hour.

minute: each of the 60 parts that creates one hour and is made up of 60 seconds.

second: the standard SI unit of time equal to 160th of a minute.

morning: the time of day that is between when the sun starts to rise and the middle of the day at 12 o'clock.

afternoon: the time of day that is between 12 o'clock and the time that the sun starts to set.

evening: the time of day that is between the time that the sun starts to set, and when the sky becomes completely dark.

night: the time when the sun goes down, it gets dark outside and we sleep.

week: a period of time that is made up of seven days in a calendar.

Sunday: the day that comes after Saturday.

Monday: the day that comes after Sunday.

Tuesday: the day that comes after Monday

Wednesday: the day that comes after Tuesday.

Thursday: the day that comes after Wednesday.

Friday: the day that comes after Thursday.

Saturday: the day that comes after Friday.

weekend: the days of the week usually Saturday and Sunday when people do not have to go to work or school.

next: coming immediately after a person or thing in time, place or rank.

half: either one of two equal parts of a thing.
